PLAY TREE'S MEMORY
Solve the timelines for 3 trees who've seen all sorts from the past
|

Pupils meet the 3 trees.... |

They scroll along the timeline from each tree's life... |
|

...and try to fill in the gaps in the timeline using multiple choice clues |

When they get the right answer they find out more about each event |
In this activity Year 2 to 6 [P3 - 7 in Scotland and Northern Ireland] pupils consider changes over time through the ‘eyes’ of three trees of different ages growing in different localities.
What do pupils do?
By ordering images from the trees’ memories on a timeline, pupils can find out more about the changes they have seen.
The Ancient Tree has lived in a large wood for over 500 years and during its lifespan many significant events in history have occurred. Suggested age range 9-11yrs.
The City Tree has lived in the countryside for 50 yrs. It has seen many modern day changes. Suggested age range 8-10yrs.
Using the photographs in The Country Tree timeline, pupils can look at the theme of seasonal changes. Suggested age range 6-8yrs.
Each of the three activities can be set at different levels, requiring the pupils to order from two to eight images and so can be used with differing abilities and on numerous occasions. Activities can be carried out on an individual or shared basis.
