How many molehills
can you find? 

Moles are so well adapted to life underground that they rarely come to the surface.

They are also nocturnal and so although molehills are a familiar sight, few people have ever seen a mole!molehills (photo: Dave Bevan)

Thought to be one of the most common British mammals, there is very little basic information about moles and their numbers.
 

With continuing changes to our countryside and farming it is important to monitor species which can be affected by these changes before it is too late.
 

So the People's Trust for Endangered Species and Mammals Trust UK are running MoleWatch to find out more about these elusive creatures:
