Elena and Grace Morley

On the hunt for ancient acorns

Elena and Grace at the Major Oak

We went out walking in Sherwood forest in Nottinghamshire and we found the Major Oak, one of the biggest and oldest oak trees in the world!

Elena and Grace in a huge, hollow tree!

We also found other HUGE trees that we could get inside!

Elena and Grace planting acorns with their Grandad

A park ranger gave us some acorns from the Major Oak and we have planted them into pots with our Grandad. We are keeping them in his greenhouse.

The Major Oak, Sherwood Forest

When they are big enough we are going to take them back to Sherwood and plant them with the ranger. We hope they will grow into big trees like the Major Oak!

You can plant seeds from ancient trees too!
