Make a marvellous minibeast masterpiece in our NEW creepy crawlies colouring competition

CLUB challenge

Friday 5th August

You've come to an interesting-looking tunnel leading underground, but it's all boarded up.

Take on this week's challenge to unblock the entrance and explore what's inside...

Your challenge: hunt for blackberries :O)

Be a hedgerow-dweller

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in a hedgerow?

Invent a magic phrase that could change you into a lovely blackberry or an animal that eats them.

Bev's magic words would be:

Knobbly bobbly squishy wishy!

What would your magic words be?

Who lives here?

Sometimes you don't notice the hedgerows that you find near woods or around fields and parks.

Next time you walk past a forgotten hedgerow get up close to it and take a peek inside. It's an amazing world in there!

See how many of these things you can spot :O)

Busy brambles

Brambles grow really quickly, and their branches seem to creep along the ground.

Here's a cool time lapse video from the BBC showing how brambles grow :O)

What did you think of that awesome video?

Fancy having a go at making your own time-lapse photo or video project? It's a fun way of keeping a record of how things change over time :O)

  • pick an interesting view, tree or plant that you can return to every week
  • take a photo or short video of your subject
  • go back every week or so and take a photo of the same view from exactly the same spot

At the end of the day you should have lots of photos or videos which each have subtle differences but some may have huge differences!

A storm may be brewing, people may be enjoying the view, animals might be hunting for food, flowers may have opened, leaves may have turned golden...

Print your photos make them into a fab flicker book:
