A treasure trove of tried and tested practical environmental science activities suitable for children aged 4-11, in the classroom and outdoors, devised by renowned primary science writer and teacher Max de Boo, for the Woodland Trust.
Topics covered include trees, flowering plants, birds, butterflies and other mini-beasts, ponds, trails, planting a garden for wildlife. Activities can stand-alone or be used as a series e.g. a half term topic. Each section contains photocopiable pages, free of copyright to the purchasing institution. As well as science other areas of learning include literacy, numeracy, ICT, geography, social and citizenship skills, PE, music, design and make and history.
Throughout the book, teachers and children are encouraged to participate in recording Nature’s Calendar online as part of the Woodland Trust’s Nature Detectives programme.
